Georgia Mandated Medical Gas Installers' Course

Since July of 1997, the State of Georgia has required all individuals installing  medical gas systems to have a medical gas credential. To obtain the credential, an individual must hold a current Georgia masters or journeyman plumbing license and pass a 32-hour medical gas installers class.

Medical Gas Specialists, Inc. offers the Georgia-approved and nationally recognized 32 hour course certified and proctored by The National Inspecting Testing and Certification Corporation (NITC).

We offer this course throughout the southeastern U.S. wherever demand dictates. At least 10 persons are required per class and enrollment is limited to 25.

The course consists of 24 hours of classroom instruction and 8 hours of brazer training. After classroom sessions, a NITC proctor will administer a 100 question closed-book test based on current NFPA 99 code requirements. Each candidate must pass 2 - 1 ½" diameter brazed coupons (one horizontal and one vertical) judged by an American Welding Society (AWS) inspector. The course, testing, and coupon performance meet the American Society of Sanitary Engineers (ASSE) requirements for medical gas installers (ASSE 6010).

The MGS class has a pass rate over 99% and an average written test score of over 90%. The national average on the NITC test is just over 80%. Since 1996, we have held over 60 classes in 8 different states and helped over 700 individuals earn the NITC installers credential.
